Political shifts occur in Ciudad Madero and Mexican legislature

In Mexico, political shifts are occurring within regional and national legislative structures. In Ciudad Madero, former mayor Andrés Zorrilla Moreno is leading the Green Party (PVEM) efforts for the 2027 municipal elections. Zorrilla is building a political structure known as ‘La Fuerza Verde’ to consolidate support among various social organizations and leadership groups.

Nationally, federal legislator Mario Calzada Mercado has resigned from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) to join Movimiento Ciudadano (MC). Calzada, who previously served as the mayor of El Marqués, joined the MC caucus alongside leaders Jorge Álvarez Máynez and Ivonne Ortega. This move increases the number of MC legislators to 30 while reducing the PRI's count to 36.
