Swedish political parties form new local coalitions
Following recent elections, several Swedish political entities have established new governing arrangements at the local and regional levels.
In Kalmar County, the Moderate Party (M) and Christian Democrats (KD) will continue to operate in opposition. Despite a narrow election result that allowed a red-green majority to retain power, officials noted that the combined votes of M, KD, and the Sweden Democrats (SD) were within 100 votes of overturning the existing administration.
In Ovanåker Municipality, the Christian Democrats have announced a formal cooperation with the Moderate Party and the Sweden Democrats to create a majority government. The party stated that this coalition is the only viable path toward stable, long-term leadership, while emphasizing that their core values remain non-negotiable.
In Krokom, election data indicates a significant divergence between local and national voting patterns. The Centre Party (C) saw a notable increase in local support, becoming the largest party in the municipality, while the Social Democrats (S) experienced a decline in both municipal and national vote shares.
