Political shifts reported in Lubliniec and Świętokrzyskie

Several political shifts have occurred within local and regional government structures in Poland. In the Lubliniec County Council, Dawid Smol has resigned from his position as a councilor and chairman of the Law and Justice (PiS) club. His resignation follows his appointment as Deputy Mayor of the Herby Commune, a role that, under local government law, is incompatible with holding a council seat. Bogdan Brol of Boronów, who was the next candidate on the PiS list, has agreed to take over the mandate.

At the regional level in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Waldemar Wrona has officially joined the Law and Justice (PiS) club. Wrona, a physician from Konecki County, had previously been a member of PiS before leaving in 2022 and subsequently joining the Civic Coalition (KO) during the 2024 local elections. His move back to PiS follows a period of tension with KO, including a vote in June 2026 where he was the sole opposition member to support a vote of confidence for the PiS-dominated provincial board.
