Political shifts reported in Santo Domingo Norte and Cataño

In Santo Domingo Norte, Vice Mayor Leandro González has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with Mayor Betty Gerónimo, stating that she has failed to fulfill her commitments. González, who transitioned from the PLD to the PRM to support Gerónimo's successful 2024 campaign, noted that his recent attempt to secure the PRM General Secretariat position in the municipality was unsuccessful.

In Puerto Rico, DACO Secretary Hiram Torres Montalvo has registered a new organization, ‘Amigos de Hiram Torres y el Nuevo Cataño’. Torres Montalvo indicated he may run for mayor of Cataño following the death of former mayor Julio Alicea Vasallo, promising a departure from the political styles of the last 20 years. He also defended Gabriel Sicardó, the organization's treasurer, against political attacks, asserting that Sicardó has no official investigations against him.
