Political tensions lead to physical and verbal altercations in Brazil

Two separate incidents involving political friction occurred in Brazil. In Campos Borges, Rio Grande do Sul, a session of the Municipal Chamber of Councilors ended in physical violence. The confrontation began when councilor Adriano Nogueira threw water on councilor Ivo Tiaraju Borba while the latter was speaking at the rostrum. The ensuing physical fight required intervention from other councilors and staff to separate the parties, leading to the immediate suspension of the legislative session and the cutting of the live broadcast.

In Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, a 40-year-old man was verbally harassed by a group of individuals in a luxury condominium elevator. The incident, which took place during the presidential vote counting, involved supporters of former President Bolsonaro using insults and political slurs against the man. The victim reported the incident to the police, stating he was targeted due to perceived opposing political views.
