Political tensions reported in Atri and Petrosino

In Atri, Member of Parliament Daniela Torto of the Movimento 5 Stelle has expressed solidarity with municipal councilor Gabriella Italiani following a confrontation during a city council meeting. Torto criticized the mayor of Atri for his conduct toward Italiani, alleging that his remarks, which included accusations of lying and deceiving the community, constituted a personal attack rather than a substantive political debate. Torto called for the mayor to lower his tone and apologize, stating that such behavior undermines institutional respect and the role of the opposition.

In Petrosino, local administration officials have responded to criticisms regarding the state of the municipality. Addressing claims made by Giovannella Licari, the administration led by Mayor Giacomo Anastasi defended its four-year tenure by citing specific completed projects. These include a new municipal nursery funded by PNRR, a new roundabout, cemetery expansions, photovoltaic public lighting, and urban redevelopment projects totaling 1.9 million euros. The administration emphasized that while challenges remain, these investments demonstrate progress despite complex financial conditions.
