Political tensions reported in Tacoronte and Sant Antoni

In Tacoronte, the political formation Sí se puede has criticized recent police actions against local residents protesting planned works in the El Pris area. Councilman José Luis Almenara expressed concern over what he described as intimidation of citizens exercising their right to peaceful protest. The group is calling for greater transparency and a collaborative approach between the government, the opposition, and the community to address drainage issues in the coastal environment without sacrificing public interest.

Meanwhile, in Sant Antoni, the PSOE has alleged a political power struggle within the local People's Party (PP). The social democrats claim that a lack of coordination during a recent eclipse event, which left the municipality short of local police officers during high crowds, has exposed deep internal divisions between Mayor Marcos Serra and First Deputy Mayor Neus Mateu. The PSOE argues that these internal conflicts are negatively impacting municipal management and public service.
