Political tensions rise in Argentina over debt and Spain over Ceuta migration

In Argentina, President Martín Menem, head of the Chamber of Deputies, defended the government's economic stance against opposition efforts to intervene in rising family debt. Menem claimed that delinquency rates are beginning to decrease and accused the opposition of seeking to destabilize the economy through legislative maneuvers. The ruling party has called for committee meetings to address family over-indebtedness and disability emergency laws to prevent these issues from reaching the floor under opposition terms.

In Spain, the Sumar party has demanded the immediate transfer of migrants from Ceuta to the mainland. Minister of Culture and Sumar spokesperson Ernest Urtasun criticized the PSOE-led government's handling of the migration crisis following mass arrivals in late July. While Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has rejected the transfer of migrants to the peninsula, Sumar argues that relocating approximately 500 minors is essential to safeguard human rights and restore normalcy to the autonomous city.
