Political tensions rise in Brazil and Serbia ahead of key events

In Brazil, the Workers' Party (PT) has petitioned the Prosecutor General's Office (PGE) to investigate a São Paulo Military Police operation in Piracicaba. The party alleges political manipulation and abuse of authority following the detention of three youths. The controversy centers on images shared by Senator-elect Guilherme Derrite showing the suspects wearing shirts supporting President Lula. The PT claims the video may have been staged to damage their campaign and has requested investigations by both the PGE and the Federal Police into potential electoral fraud and reported physical aggression against a 17-year-old.

In Serbia, authorities have detained at least seven activists four days before parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday. The arrests, occurring in Novi Sad and other regions, were coordinated by the Belgrade Higher Prosecutor's Office and the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA). Prosecutors allege the group planned violent actions, including attacks on political opponents and state institutions. While authorities cited the seizure of weapons and tactical gear, opposition members and activists claim the detentions target political opponents amidst ongoing anti-government student protests.
