Political tensions rise in Calabria and Sardinia

In Calabria, Giuseppe Conte, president of the Five Star Movement, visited Pizzo Calabro and Vibo Valentia to meet with farmers, fishermen, and transport workers protesting high fuel costs and sectoral crises. During the visit, political leaders discussed building a progressive alternative to the current regional administration, criticizing the regional government's focus on increasing administrative roles while facing crises in healthcare and infrastructure.

In Sardinia, regional councilor Alessandro Sorgia of Fratelli d’Italia has criticized President Todde’s administration for its handling of the healthcare sector. Sorgia specifically highlighted the lack of response to urgent inquiries regarding the supply of life-saving medical devices for type 1 diabetes patients. He reported significant delays in providing insulin pumps, sensors, and catheters, as well as staffing shortages in diabetic care centers.
