Political tensions rise in Croatia and Serbia over extremism and opposition

Milorad Pupovac, president of the SDSS, has criticized the Croatian government under Prime Minister Andrej Plenković regarding the rise of right-wing extremism. Pupovac specifically addressed incidents in Split involving Nazi ideology and hateful chants directed at Serbs and Jewish people during a football match involving Hajduk Split. He argued that the government has allowed a climate where such hate is tolerated or met with insufficient judicial response.

In Serbia, SNS leader Miloš Vučević addressed political tensions, characterizing recent opposition movements as a “colored revolution” aimed at destabilizing the government. He claimed that various tragedies and political incidents have been exploited by professional demonstrators and foreign-funded NGOs to undermine the leadership of Aleksandar Vučić.

Additionally, reports highlight the diplomatic and social fallout from extremist displays in Croatia, noting that the Israeli Embassy expressed disbelief regarding the scenes in Split.
