Political tensions rise in Italian municipalities
In Villa San Giovanni, Ada Pavone of Spazio Democratico has criticized Mayor Giuseppina Caminiti for perceived political inconsistency. Pavone, who was removed from her position as deputy mayor due to alleged ties to the Democratic Party (PD), noted that the Mayor—who previously emphasized civic autonomy from political parties—is now participating in political meetings with PD representatives in Messina.
In Benevento, the Democratic Party held a public meeting at Palazzo Terragnoli to outline its strategy ahead of upcoming administrative elections. The party aims to challenge the current administration led by the ‘Noi di centro’ formation. While various groups such as Civico 22, Avs, AltraBenevento, Libera, and the WWF attended, notable absences included representatives from the Five Star Movement, Italia Viva, and the PSI. The meeting also included a statement of solidarity for approximately 160 workers in Morcone facing potential layoffs by Ficomirrors.
