Political tensions rise in Montenegro and Croatia

In Montenegro, Member of Parliament Kenana Strujić Harbić has called on the European Union to consider entry bans and restrictive measures for public officials who glorify convicted war criminals. This follows statements by Pljevlja Municipality President Dario Vraneš, who attended the funeral of Ratko Mladić and denied the Srebrenica genocide, characterizing the event as a project designed to create eternal enmity between Serbs and Bosniaks.

In Croatia, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is preparing for a challenging political autumn. The government has introduced a 125.4 million euro autumn aid package aimed at subsidizing electricity prices for households and businesses, as well as mitigating rising gas and heating costs. The administration faces additional pressures, including managing an ecological crisis in Lika, maintaining coalition stability during budget negotiations, and ongoing political friction with President Zoran Milanović regarding foreign policy and diplomatic appointments.
