Political tensions rise in Uttar Pradesh over infiltration and temple donation allegations

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has intensified his political rhetoric against the Congress and Samajwadi Party. During a Valmiki Jayanti event in Kanpur, Adityanath accused the opposition of neglecting marginalized communities, farmers, and youth while allegedly favoring “infiltrators.” He used coded language to refer to opposition leaders, claiming both parties show undue support for illegal immigrants.

Simultaneously, the Congress party has leveled serious allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Adityanath regarding the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh demanded an impartial investigation, questioning why the government has not addressed discrepancies in temple funds. The opposition highlighted a significant gap between the massive influx of pilgrims and the reported total of donations collected between April 2025 and February 2026.
