Politicians defect from APC to APM in Agege
Politicians Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, the former Chairman of Agege Local Government, and Azeez Oladapo Yusuf have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The move follows disputes regarding the outcome of the APC primary elections for the Agege constituencies. Egunjobi, contesting Agege Constituency I, and Yusuf, contesting Agege Constituency II, both claimed they were the rightful winners of the primaries before the party announced different candidates.
While some reports suggested the defection was orchestrated by Mudasiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the two politicians issued a joint statement denying his involvement. They characterized the decision as a personal response to perceived injustices within the APC leadership and stated they are capable of making independent political decisions.
