Polizia di Stato celebrates patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel
The Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) celebrated its patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel, with widespread religious and institutional ceremonies across Italy and San Marino on September 29.
The national ceremony was held in Milan, featuring a mass at the Duomo and an event at Teatro alla Scala attended by Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and Police Chief Vittorio Pisani. The Milanese celebrations included educational programs for over 1,200 students on topics such as road safety, cyber security, and bullying.
Regional celebrations took place in numerous cities, including Rome, Venice, Catania, Salerno, Varese, and Rieti. These events typically involved solemn masses, the recitation of the “Police Prayer,” and honors for personnel who have distinguished themselves in service or those who have fallen in the line of duty. In some locations, such as Varese and Siena, the occasion also served to present awards for investigative excellence and to announce personnel reinforcements.
In addition to religious rites, several provinces organized community-focused activities, including “Family Days” and exhibitions of police vehicles and equipment to strengthen the bond between the force and the public.
