Italy launches nationwide school safety and cyberbullying prevention initiatives
Italian authorities and educational institutions are launching multiple initiatives to combat school violence and digital risks among youth. The State Police (Polizia di Stato) is conducting the ‘Una Vita da Social – Action Week’ campaign, an educational program focused on preventing cyberbullying, sextortion, and the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. This nationwide effort involves the Postal Police (Polizia Postale) visiting schools and youth centers across various regions, including Lazio, Sicily, and Umbria, to foster digital awareness and responsible technology use.
In addition to the police-led campaign, local government and educational bodies are implementing structured prevention programs. In Pisa, a four-year project has been introduced to address youth distress and bullying through collaboration with sports organizations and social cooperatives. Meanwhile, in Naples, an institutional workshop is scheduled for October 14 to create a shared responsibility network between schools, families, and law enforcement to manage physical and psychological violence in educational settings. These efforts aim to build a multidisciplinary defense against the evolving challenges of digital and interpersonal violence in schools.
