Polla Chilena files criminal complaint against 11 online betting sites

Polla Chilena de Beneficencia has filed a criminal complaint against 11 online betting operators, alleging illegal exploitation of casinos or lotteries, money laundering, and potential criminal association. The legal action was admitted by the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago and has been referred to the Public Ministry for investigation.

The complaint names several platforms, including Betsson, Coolbet, Betano, Estelar Bet, Jugabet, 1xBet, Micasino, Rojabet, Novibet, LatamWin, and Juega en Línea. Polla Chilena argues that these entities are not merely international websites accessible from Chile, but have established operations specifically tailored to the national market through local advertising, sports sponsorships, and the use of domestic payment methods for deposits and withdrawals.

A central focus of the complaint is the movement of funds. Polla has requested an investigation into the origin, circulation, and destination of money to determine if funds are being transferred to related companies to conceal their nature. The state entity also highlighted the fiscal and social impact, noting that while its legal operations contribute 12% of revenue to the National Sports Institute, these informal platforms evade the regulatory and tax framework.
