Pollen named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026

Lisbon-based startup Pollen has been named one of TIME magazine’s ‘Best Inventions of 2026’. The recognition highlights the company’s universal battery swapping system designed for electric two-wheeled vehicles.

Founded by Rui Bento and Miguel Morgado, Pollen addresses barriers to electric mobility, such as high acquisition costs and long charging times. Instead of waiting hours for a charge, users can swap a depleted battery for a fully charged one at automated stations in seconds. The company has already completed over 25,000 swaps in Lisbon and has secured 3.2 million euros in funding.
