Pollica municipality intensifies fight against illegal building
The town of Pollica in Campania has signed a protocol with the regional government and environmental group Legambiente to boost monitoring and enforcement of illegal construction. Since early 2025 the municipality has carried out 74 inspections, issued 11 orders to restore sites and completed corrective work on eight of them. It is also pursuing the acquisition of illegal properties for public ownership, with one case set to be finalised at the next council meeting.
In cooperation with the local Carabinieri station, Pollica seized two completely unauthorized buildings, illustrating a coordinated approach that goes beyond mere detection to actual execution of demolition or public confiscation. Officials say the measures protect the landscape, reduce geological risk and ensure fairness for law‑abiding citizens.
