Pollster warns Trump supporters desire return to first-term domestic focus
Pollster Rich Baris reports that many Trump supporters are expressing dissatisfaction with the current version of Donald Trump, stating they want the “old Trump back.” Speaking with Tim Miller, Baris noted that voters perceived the first Trump administration as being more focused on domestic policy and the “America First” agenda.
Baris indicated that this perceived shift is impacting Republican prospects in upcoming elections. He suggested that Michigan and Georgia are currently leaning toward Democrats in Senate races and expressed concern for other traditionally “safe” Republican districts. According to Baris, voters are looking for a return to the domestic focus of the first term and intend to hold the candidate accountable regarding his campaign promises, such as avoiding new wars in the Middle East.
