Polo Tecnológico La Nube to host AI workshop for journalists

The Polo Tecnológico ‘La Nube’ will host an introductory workshop titled ‘AI Tools for Journalists’ on September 30. Led by Lucila Pellettieri, a communication professional and Google News Initiative trainer, the session is a collaborative effort between the technological hub, the Asociación de Periodistas del Departamento Uruguay (APDU), and the Google News Initiative (GNI).

The training is designed for journalists, social communicators, and journalism students from the Universidad de Concepción del Uruguay. It aims to explore how artificial intelligence can be applied to investigative work, content production, and newsroom transformation. Specific free tools such as Gemini, NotebookLM, Pinpoint, Trends, and SynthID will be discussed.

This initiative follows data from the Foro de Periodismo Argentino (FoPeA) indicating that AI use is widespread in Argentina, with 91% of professionals utilizing it in their daily work, according to a study by the UADE Institute of Social Sciences.
