Polop forest fire triggers emergency response and road closures

A forest fire broke out on Tuesday in the Bacorero area of Polop de la Marina, Spain, prompting a significant emergency response. The fire is located in a difficult-to-access area characterized by steep slopes and terraces, which has complicated ground operations.

Emergency services have activated Situation 1 of the Special Forest Fire Plan (PEIF) for the Valencian Community. This level is designated when fires pose a serious threat to forest assets and a slight risk to nearby populations or non-forest property.

The firefighting operation includes multiple aerial and ground units, including ten aerial means and various crews from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium and the Generalitat. Due to the fire, several roads have been closed to traffic, specifically the CV-70 between Polop and Guadalest, and the CV-7621 between Polop and Xirles. Local authorities have advised residents and visitors to avoid the area and follow all safety instructions.
