Polska Grupa Lotnicza to launch first all-cargo airline

Polska Grupa Lotnicza (PGL) has announced plans to establish Poland's first all-cargo airline. The new entity will focus exclusively on freight transport, aiming to reduce the domestic market's dependence on foreign companies and move beyond the current reliance on belly cargo carried by passenger aircraft.

According to PGL President Radosław Stępień, the initiative is designed to be commercially attractive while ensuring the security of the state's logistical infrastructure during crises. The strategy involves acquiring dedicated freighters specifically designed for pallets and containers rather than utilizing passenger plane holds.

Additionally, the Group's development strategy includes the creation of PGL Infrastruktura, which will focus on constructing hangars at the Central Communication Port (CPK). The Group is also looking to establish a professional training center, potentially starting with an Airbus A220 simulator as early as next year to support the upcoming fleet expansion of PLL LOT.
