Polycystic Ovary Syndrome symptoms and diagnosis

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder that can manifest through various physical symptoms beyond menstrual irregularities. While many associate the condition with irregular periods, regular menstrual cycles do not necessarily guarantee regular ovulation or the absence of the syndrome.

Common symptoms include elevated androgen levels, which can lead to hair thinning on the scalp, acne, and hirsutism (excessive facial or body hair). Other metabolic indicators may include insulin resistance and difficulties with weight management. Because symptoms like hair loss can also be caused by thyroid issues, nutritional deficiencies, or genetics, professional medical evaluation is necessary to differentiate PCOS from other conditions.
