Polyfytos Lake to host carp fishing competition in 2026

The Polyfytos artificial lake in the Kozani regional unit has been approved to host a 46-hour interclub carp fishing competition. The event, organized by the Ptolemaida Amateur Anglers Sports Club ‘Sakis Tzouras’, is scheduled to take place from Friday, October 30, 2026, at 16:00, until Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 14:00.

The competition area extends from the imaginary line of the Imera settlement to the Servia bridge. Participants are restricted to fishing exclusively for carp weighing at least 1,000 grams. Each athlete is permitted to use two rods, with one hook per rod.

Strict environmental regulations are in place: all caught carp must be kept alive in the water and released back into the lake after being weighed or photographed. Any other fish species caught must be returned to the water immediately. Additionally, fishing and the use of nets are prohibited in the competition area and within 200 meters of the shore during the event period.
