Polymarket accused of paying influencers to promote fabricated prediction‑market wins

The Wall Street Journal reports that prediction‑market platform Polymarket paid social‑media creators to post videos that showed false winnings on its markets. An analysis of more than 1,100 videos and instructional material indicated that many of the clips were staged, with fabricated transaction details and outcomes. Influencers were instructed not to disclose that they were being compensated, and only added a "@polymarket partner" label after journalists questioned the practice. Polymarket said it is committed to “accurate, fair and transparent markets” and announced an internal audit of its promotional material.

The allegations raise concerns about the integrity of prediction‑market platforms, which rely on user trust. If influencers were presenting misleading information as genuine results, it could distort market behavior and erode confidence among participants.
