Polymarket seeks $1 billion funding at $21 billion valuation

Polymarket is negotiating a $1 billion funding round that would value the prediction market platform at approximately $21 billion. The round is reportedly being led by 1789 Capital, a venture capital firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. 1789 Capital is expected to contribute roughly $300 million to the round, building on a previous investment of approximately $200 million.

This new valuation represents a 40% increase from the $15 billion valuation established in April 2026. Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, remains a major stakeholder with approximately 22% ownership.

The funding comes amid intense competition with rival platform Kalshi and ongoing regulatory debates in the United States. While the industry advocates for federal oversight by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), at least 20 states have challenged the authority of such regulators over prediction markets, particularly regarding sports-related contracts.
