Polymarket withdraws NFL contracts and adds crypto bets

Polymarket US has withdrawn two NFL-focused Player Participation Contracts from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) registry. The withdrawal occurred on August 26, just one day after the contracts were certified and one day before the intended listing date of August 27.

The NFL contracts were classified as swaps within the binary option subcategory. These types of contracts, which often cover player injuries, officiating, or specific in-game actions, have previously been flagged by the CFTC as potentially contrary to public interest.

Simultaneously with the NFL withdrawal, Polymarket certified three new cryptocurrency-related products. These include price contracts for Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana, which were also filed as swaps in the binary option subcategory. The exchange has a history of withdrawing certified event contracts, having previously pulled products related to tennis, NCAA players, and shipping traffic statistics.
