Polyniki Emmanouilidou apologizes for relay error at European Championships

Greek athlete Polyniki Emmanouilidou has issued a public apology following a mistake during the women’s 4x100m relay at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. During the race, Emmanouilidou failed to successfully complete the final baton exchange with teammate Dimitra Tsoukala, resulting in the Greek team failing to finish the race and missing out on the final.

In a social media post, Emmanouilidou expressed deep regret, stating, “Today, a mistake of my own cost us the finish. And this hurts me a lot.” She extended her apologies to her teammates and coaches, noting the intense preparation the team had undergone in hopes of achieving a new Greek national record.
