Polytimi Leonardou linked to Karneadou clinic inspections

Polytimi Leonardou, a high-ranking New Democracy official and Vice President of the Medical Association of Athens (ISA), is at the center of the investigation regarding the Karneadou medical clinic. Leonardou, a radiologist and director at Sismanogleio Hospital, participated in an ISA committee inspection of the clinic in November 2025, prior to the death of Giorgos Mazonakis.

Following the incident, Leonardou served as the president of the ISA Inspection Committee. She reported that a second phlebotomy machine was discovered in a location that had not been disclosed during the initial 2025 inspection. The Medical Association of Athens has stated that the inspection team was misled and did not have a complete overview of the clinic's facilities during their previous visit.
