Polzela industrial fire injures two workers

A fire and a minor local explosion occurred on Monday evening at the Recman Sistemi company located in the Garant business zone in Polzela, Slovenia. The incident took place in a production hall specializing in plastic waste processing.

Two employees were injured during the event; one sustained serious injuries while the other was more lightly injured. Both victims were treated by emergency responders and transported to the Celje General Hospital.

The fire destroyed a plastic processing line and metal cabinets with electrical wiring located near the machinery. Preliminary findings from the Celje Police Administration suggest the fire likely originated in a suction pipe attached to a plastic processing machine. Firefighters from Polzela, Ločica ob Savinji, and Andraž nad Polzelo responded to the scene, using thermal imaging cameras to ensure all hotspots were extinguished.
