Pomegranate harvests begin in Antalya and Adana regions
Pomegranate harvesting has commenced across key agricultural regions in Turkey, including Antalya and Adana, with varying yields and market conditions reported.
In the Serik district of Antalya, producers accelerated the harvest due to forecasts of upcoming rainfall. While yields are higher than last year, some quality reductions have been noted due to weather conditions. Field prices for pomegranates in Serik currently range between 15 and 30 TL per kilogram, depending on quality. The produce is destined for both domestic markets and international exports, particularly to Russia and Europe.
In the Kozan district of Adana, the harvest of the geographically indicated Kuytucak pomegranate has also begun. This variety is noted for its thin skin and large, aromatic seeds. Producers in the Kuytucak region expect to yield approximately 350 tons from 200 decares of land. Unlike the prices seen in Antalya, Kuytucak pomegranates are fetching between 70 and 80 TL per kilogram in local markets.
