Pomerania emerges as Poland's new energy and industrial hub

The Pomerania region in Poland is positioning itself as a major energy hub through significant investments in nuclear and offshore wind power. This shift is expected to move the country's energy production center from the south to the north, attracting energy-intensive industries, battery factories, and advanced technology sectors.

Key developments include the planned construction of a nuclear power plant with nearly 4 GW of capacity and the expansion of offshore wind energy, which is projected to reach 6 GW by 2030 and potentially 18 GW by 2040. To support these projects, multi-billion dollar grid modernization efforts are also underway.

In support of these developments, the posEJdON 2026 conference will be held at the Gdańsk University of Technology on October 22. The event will focus on the current stage of Poland's nuclear program, discussing technologies such as AP1000 and small modular reactors (SMRs). The conference will feature representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, Westinghouse, Bechtel, and Rolls-Royce SMR.
