Poland provides various social security and healthcare benefits
Various social and health services in Poland offer financial and medical support for specific needs.
Regarding social security, ZUS provides caregiver allowances for those looking after sick children or family members. This includes entrepreneurs who are covered by sickness insurance. For children under 14, parents can claim up to 60 days of care per year, while for those over 14, the limit is 14 days. Additionally, a supporting benefit is available for adults with disabilities, with monthly amounts projected to reach over 4,100 PLN net by 2026. It is noted that for the first 33 days of sickness, the employer—not ZUS—is responsible for financing the sick pay.
In healthcare, the National Health Fund (NFZ) covers several services. Children up to 12 years old are eligible for free orthodontic treatment, including removable appliances and necessary monitoring. For seniors, NFZ provides free partial or complete dentures for those missing at least five teeth in one arch, typically available once every five years.
In the Pomeranian Voivodeship, a remote monitoring program called ‘Tele-KTG’ allows high-risk pregnant women to perform fetal heart rate monitoring from home, providing continuous medical oversight through a dedicated application.
