POMIDA responds to Greek Gigabit Regulation bill
POMIDA has responded to the public consultation regarding a new bill aimed at implementing the European Gigabit Regulation and strengthening electronic communications infrastructure in Greece. The organization supports the creation of a modern institutional framework to facilitate fiber optic network development and improve provider access to building infrastructures.
However, POMIDA expressed concerns regarding potential bureaucratic burdens and costs for property owners. The organization is advocating for clarifications in Article 8 of the bill to prevent multiple, parallel installations of infrastructure by different providers within the same building. POMIDA emphasizes that existing suitable infrastructures should be prioritized to protect common and private property while maintaining competition among providers.
Additionally, the organization suggests that buildings already possessing a ‘Smart Readiness Indicator’ should be explicitly exempt from undergoing new procedures or obtaining a new ‘Broadband Mark’ to avoid redundant administrative processes.
