Pomigliano d’Arco named finalist for Italian Book Capital 2027

Pomigliano d’Arco has been named one of seven finalists for the title of ‘Capitale Italiana del Libro 2027’ (Italian Book Capital 2027). The selection was announced by the Italian Ministry of Culture’s Department for Cultural Activities.

The other finalists include Chiaromonte, Iglesias, Monreale, Nuoro, Teramo, and Treviso. To determine the winner, the seven municipalities will participate in a public hearing before a ministerial jury. During these sessions, each candidate will have up to 60 minutes to present their project dossier and answer questions.

Pomigliano d’Arco’s candidacy, titled ‘Città officina del leggere’ (Workshop City of Reading), focuses on using books as a tool for urban regeneration, social inclusion, and community growth. The project is a collaborative effort involving local institutions, schools, libraries, and citizens. Mayor Raffaele Russo described the selection as an extraordinary achievement that rewards the work of the entire community.
