Pompei: Woman killed in hit-and-run at pedestrian crossing

A 66-year-old woman, Lucia Falso of Castellammare di Stabia, died after being struck by a vehicle while using a pedestrian crossing in Pompei. The incident occurred on the night between September 14 and September 15 along via Plinio.

According to investigators, the victim was crossing the street with her husband when a Ford Fiesta traveling at high speed struck her. The impact was severe, leaving the woman in critical condition. Despite the gravity of the accident, the driver failed to stop to provide assistance and fled the scene.

Local police from the Pompei Commissariat, led by Deputy Questore Giuseppe Nicotera, are investigating the hit-and-run. Surveillance camera footage from the area captured the sequence of the collision and the subsequent flight of the vehicle, which investigators are using to identify the person responsible.
