Pompeii unveils bronze Polykleitos Canon replica and giant lobster pop‑art

A scientific bronze replica of the ancient Greek sculpture Polykleitos' Canon was presented at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. The ceremony was attended by Italy's Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli, park director Gabriel Zuchtriegel and other officials, highlighting a project to preserve historic matrices from the former Chiurazzi Foundry.

In the same venue, British pop‑artist Philip Colbert opened his "Pop Mythology" exhibition, installing more than 30 monumental lobster sculptures throughout the ruins. The show marks the first contemporary sculpture display in Pompeii in three decades and the first time an artist has exhibited inside the ancient houses, aiming to create a dialogue between antiquity and modern pop art.
