Pompenburgflat demolition delayed by one year

The demolition of the first section of the Pompenburgflat has been delayed by one year. This delay is due to pending legal reviews by the Council of State regarding objections filed against the redevelopment plan.

The project, led by developer Nanne de Ru and housing corporation Havensteder, aims to replace the existing structure with three residential towers. One of these towers is expected to be the tallest residential building in the Netherlands, reaching a height of 285 meters.

Residents of the 56 affected homes can remain in their current location until at least December 1, 2027. They are slated to move temporarily to the Cool Tower, which will provide social housing, before potentially returning to the site once the new development is completed. The full completion of the residential towers is not expected before 2035.
