Pondicherry Central University to Open Campus in Mahe, Kerala Enclave

Pondicherry Central University will establish a new campus in Mahe, the Union Territory enclave surrounded by Kerala. The government has leased three acres in Chalakkara for 19 years at a nominal rent of Rs 5 per year. The campus, headed by Officer on Special Duty Rajeesh Viswanathan, will serve students from Mahe, Kerala and Karnataka and is slated to begin academic activities in the 2027‑2028 year. Planned programmes include Business Administration, International Business, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Banking Technology, FinTech and Data Analysis.

The project was realised with support from Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Vice‑Chancellor P Prakash Babu. Officials say the campus will also boost tourism, hospitality and related industries, enhancing Mahe’s visibility and contributing to regional economic growth.
