Ponferrada to host community health education days

The Gerencia de Asistencia Sanitaria del Bierzo (Gasbi), in collaboration with the Ponferrada City Council, is launching the II Community Health Days during October and November. Operating under the slogan ‘Saliendo del Centro de Salud’ (Leaving the Health Center), the initiative aims to bring health education and professional expertise directly into neighborhoods and villages to improve quality of life and accessibility to rigorous information.

The program features various activities led by medical residents, nurses, pharmacists, occupational therapists, and social workers. Key topics include healthy aging, first aid, responsible medication use, sleep hygiene, and personal autonomy.

Scheduled sessions include a talk on healthy aging at the El Plantío Day Center on October 5, an informative session regarding healthcare resources at the Puente Boeza Neighborhood Association on October 19, and a first aid and CPR workshop at the former schools in Espinoso de Compludo on October 26.
