Ponoka rodeo contestants prepare for Canadian Finals Rodeo

The Ponoka Stampede Association hosted a Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) send-off on September 30 at the Stagecoach Saloon to support local rodeo participants. A contingent of 22 contestants from the Ponoka area will compete in CFR52 at Rogers Place in Edmonton from October 7 to 10.

Among the competitors is 17-year-old breakaway roper Kelly Pugh, who has qualified for the finals for the second consecutive year. Pugh, currently ranked fourth in the Canadian standings, recently graduated from high school a year early through the BRICK Learning Centre to accommodate her rodeo schedule.
