Ponorogo police investigate PLN transformer theft

Police in Ponorogo are investigating the theft of a PLN electrical transformer in Tugurejo Village, Slahung District. The incident occurred around midnight on a Friday, causing power outages in several surrounding areas.

Witnesses reported seeing several individuals and a vehicle near the transformer at the time of the incident. Residents did not report suspicious activity because the individuals appeared to be PLN technicians performing repairs on the power lines. The village head, Siswanto, noted that some individuals were even seen working on top of the utility poles.

The Slahung Police Chief, AKP Pitoyo, stated that the Ponorogo Police Criminal Investigation Unit is handling the case. During a crime scene investigation, officers found several transformer components left behind at the site. Authorities believe at least four perpetrators were involved and are currently collecting witness statements to track down the suspects.
