Ponsse considers workforce reductions due to weak demand
Finnish forestry machinery manufacturer Ponsse has initiated change negotiations to address a weakening market and low order levels relative to production capacity. The company reported that its operating profit for July–September was 5.9 million euros, significantly missing the analyst forecast of 13.6 million euros and falling below the 9.6 million euros recorded during the same period last year.
As part of potential adjustment measures for 2027, Ponsse is considering temporary full-time or part-time leaves of absence for up to 90 days. These measures could affect 109 employees at the company’s Finnish locations, specifically impacting the Vieremä production site. The company stated that layoffs are not currently planned, and its subsidiary, Epec Oy, is excluded from these negotiations.
