Ponta Grossa barbershop shooting leaves one dead, another critically injured

A gunman on a motorcycle opened fire inside a barbershop on Avenida Siqueira Campos in the Jardim Castanheira district of Ponta Grossa, Brazil, on the afternoon of 19 June. Two men were shot; the owner, a 22‑year‑old, survived with serious chest injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition, while the other victim died at the scene.

Police and municipal guard units sealed the area for forensic work, and the Military Police launched a search operation using K‑9 units, drones and shock‑troop personnel. The suspects abandoned their motorcycle after a crash on Avenida Pedro Wosgrau and fled on foot toward a nearby wooded area. As of the evening, no arrests had been made and the motive remains under investigation.
