Ponte dei Minatori inaugurated in Tremenico, Italy

The Ponte dei Minatori, a 450-meter-long suspended walkway, has been officially inaugurated in Tremenico near Lake Como. The structure rises approximately 200 meters above the Varrone stream, creating a link between the town and the historic Lentrèe mining settlement.

Designed to boost tourism and economic development in the Valvarrone region, the engineering feat can accommodate approximately 1,900 people simultaneously. The walkway is built to withstand wind gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour, supported by 84-millimeter diameter cables weighing 21 tons each.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by regional and provincial officials, including Mauro Piazza, the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region, and Alessandra Hofmann, President of the Province of Lecco. Local leaders emphasized that the bridge serves as a symbol of hope for a valley facing challenges such as depopulation and geographic isolation.
