Ponte della Becca to undergo €14 million renovation

Mayor Adriano Piras has provided details regarding a €14 million renovation project for the Ponte della Becca. The extensive works include bridge consolidation, pillar reinforcement, new lighting, and complete resurfacing.

A significant change to the infrastructure will be the increase of the transit weight limit from 3.5 to 26 tons. To manage heavy vehicle traffic, automated weight and license plate control portals will be installed on the Linarolo and Mezzanino sides.

The project also encompasses the construction of a large roundabout, the restoration of a former railway house to serve as a Civil Protection headquarters for Mezzanino, and the addition of pedestrian and cycle paths. While works are expected to last approximately 16 months with alternating one-way traffic, officials stated they will attempt to schedule activities to minimize disruption for students and commuters.
