Ponte della Scafa project led by Anas amid transparency concerns
The new Ponte della Scafa in Ostia is drawing scrutiny after Anas, now headed by former Rome prefect Giuseppe Pecorà, took charge of its construction and the related Parco del Mare. The Laboratorio di Urbanistica (LabUr) has asked Anas for the technical documentation supporting the recent increase in the bridge’s permissible load limit, which was raised from 7.5 tonnes to 26 tonnes. LabUr emphasizes the need for clear public information on the structural calculations, load‑testing results and other approvals that justify the change.
Pecorà’s previous roles include serving as Rome’s prefect from 2008‑2015 and presiding over companies involved in earlier phases of the bridge project. LabUr argues that his move to Anas highlights potential conflicts of interest and calls for greater transparency in decisions about major infrastructure works on the Roman coast.
