Ponte San Giovanni reopens via della Scuola during weekly market

The municipality of Ponte San Giovanni has announced that via della Scuola will remain open to traffic during the weekly market, effective Thursday, October 1. This decision follows significant traffic issues observed on September 24, where the combination of new road layouts and an accident on the E45 highway created unsustainable congestion for the neighborhood.

As part of an experimental measure, market stalls that were previously placed on the roadway will be relocated to an adjacent parking area. Local Police Ordinance n. 1609 formalizes this change. Economic Development Councilor Andrea Stafisso stated that the move aims to balance the vitality of the local market with the need for neighborhood accessibility and mobility.

The administration is also conducting a broader review of the traffic issues stemming from the PINQuA project, a redevelopment initiative implemented by the previous administration. While the current council noted that the project has brought general improvements to the area, they are working to address the specific mobility challenges caused by the new infrastructure.
